I didn't go to the rally this year (it's a whole 30 miles away from my house) but I can tell you about the bikes I saw going into and out of the area during that time.
I would say that while HD still was in the majority, the other brands are more numerous than ever before. I don't pay much attention to the brand of the bike I see on a trailer behind a road whale (motor home) or being unloaded from the cargo hold of a plane and trucked to the motel. I don't care what these clowns are riding, I don't want to associate with them.
The people I used to see every year when I rode in to the rally from many miles away no longer come to Sturgis. There are too many people, the organizers of the rally are interested only in money, and the rally is no longer fun. By the way, the rally is no longer organized by the Jackpine Gypsies (the club that started the rally) but is run by a corporation owned by several out of state lawyers and the city of Sturgis.
If you want to see a huge rally of mostly HD's, get to Sturgis in the next decade. I don't think it will last much beyond that.
